Cypress Gardens

For this painting of Cypress Gardens, I was inspired by the hazy atmosphere reflected in the water. If you look closely, you will see a gator. I used to live in South Carolina and this is one of my favorite subjects to paint. This composition is based on a photograph taken while in a row boat in the swamp. Back in the day, Cypress Gardens used to let you rent the boats and venture out alone following the arrow signs to avoid shallow areas. All in all it felt quite adventurous.
