Sweet Innocence
When I saw this wee girl's eyes I couldn't resist painting her. I started by lightly blocking in the darks and mid-tones. From there I blocked in the lights within the lights, the darks within the darks and the mid-tones within the mid-tones. Then I started to work on her features being careful that they lined up correctly with each other and making corrections as I went. At last, I worked on softening the transitions in her skin so that she would look like the soft wee baby that she is. I wanted her sweater and hat to look soft and fuzzy so she would look cosy in them but I wanted them to have as little detail as possible so they wouldn't become the focal point and take attention away from her beautiful big eyes. As I worked I kept adding to the background.
