We don't often get snow in northeastern Oklahoma, so after a recent winter storm in early November, I went out looking for reference photos, hoping to capture the play of light among the shadows and snow. I came across this wooded area that seemed like a perfect scene to capture. The painting was created on UArt 500 mounted board with a loose underpainting of NuPastels and rubbing alcohol to set the value structure. From there, I used Terry Ludwig and Richeson Handrolled pastels to complete the scene.
