January's Invitation

I enjoy finding color in the snow-covered winter landscape, and began this piece the day after a January hike. I started with an underpainting in primarily local color, with raw sienna under the snow to add warmth and hint at buried grasses. Working from top to bottom, I determined it was finished when the image recreated the feelings I experienced on that glorious winter day.
