Then There Was One

This painting was done using a combination of soft and hard stick pastels and pastel pencils. It was inspired by a trip to North Kenya to raise awareness to the plight of the nearly extinct Northern White Rhinos. She is of one of the last two remaining females. Being in the presence of the a critically endangered animal affected me deeply and many hours were spent trying to recreate the experience for the viewer.
