Engelberg Cathedral

Using a variety of pastels on a slate gray piece of Pastel Premier paper, I painted this photo reference after a most memorable trip to a Benedictine Monastery in Engelberg, Switzerland. On this fall day, my wife and I hiked to a nearby hill with a wood of Aspens. All we could hear was distant cowbells from the pastures below. This painting was my response and attempt to capture the spiritual brightness and peace of this place.
