On a canoe trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula I made a couple of sketches and took a photo or two of this island shoreline in the middle of a small lake. The shapes of the and colors of the boulders were very exciting, especially as they were contrasted with the lush green shrubs and trees.
A handmade surface of pumice and gesso coupled with Unison, Rembrandt and Nu-Pastels were used in this painting.
